How to cancel a Tinder subscription

Tinder subscriptions catch people out more than most, for one reason: deleting your Tinder account does not cancel your subscription. Neither does deleting the app. The billing is held by whoever you bought it through, and it carries on regardless.

This applies to Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum alike. Work out where you subscribed, then use the matching route below.

First, work out who bills you

Tinder sells the same subscription three ways, and each one cancels somewhere different. Check your statement or your original receipt:

  • The charge reads APPLE.COM/BILLApple bills you.
  • The charge reads GOOGLE *TinderGoogle Play bills you.
  • The charge names Tinder or Match Group directly — you subscribed on tinder.com.

Cancelling if you subscribed on iPhone

  1. Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap Tinder, then Cancel Subscription.

There is no cancel option inside the Tinder app itself for Apple-billed subscriptions, which is why so many people conclude it cannot be cancelled. The Apple subscriptions guide covers what to do if Tinder is not listed on that screen.

Cancelling if you subscribed on Android

  1. Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptionsSubscriptions.
  3. Select Tinder, then Cancel subscription.

Cancelling if you subscribed on tinder.com

  1. Sign in at tinder.com in a browser.
  2. Open the profile icon, then Manage Payment Account or Manage Subscription.
  3. Choose Cancel Subscription and confirm.

Use a desktop browser if you can. The mobile web layout sometimes hides the payment settings entirely.

Cancelling versus deleting your account

These are separate actions and the order matters. Cancel the subscription first, then delete the account — doing it the other way round leaves an active subscription attached to an account you can no longer sign into, which makes it considerably harder to stop.

If you have already deleted the account and the charges are continuing, you can still cancel through Apple or Google, because the subscription lives with the store rather than with Tinder. If you subscribed on the web, contact Tinder support directly.

What happens next

Your paid features stay active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the account reverts to free Tinder. Nothing is refunded for the unused portion as a matter of course.

For a refund on a charge that has already gone through, use reportaproblem.apple.com for Apple purchases, the Play Store order history for Google, or Tinder support for web purchases.

Common questions

Does deleting the Tinder app cancel my subscription?

No. The subscription belongs to your Apple or Google account, not to the app, and billing continues after the app is removed. This is the single most common reason people keep being charged.

I deleted my Tinder account and I'm still being charged. What do I do?

Cancel through the store that bills you — Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Play Store → Payments & subscriptions on Android. Neither requires access to your Tinder account. If you subscribed on tinder.com, you will need to contact Tinder support.

Will I lose my matches if I cancel?

No. Cancelling only ends the paid features such as unlimited likes and Passport. Your account, matches and conversations remain. Deleting the account is what removes those, and it is a separate action.

Can I get a refund for Tinder Gold?

Sometimes. For Apple purchases request it at reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple decides case by case and is more receptive within a few days of the charge. Tinder itself generally does not refund unused time on a subscription you chose to cancel.
